Denverite published its voter guide for the At-Large B race, and I was glad to sit down with them. We talked about growing up on the Westside, building the Latino Cultural Arts Center, and how I would approach housing, transportation, the budget and public safety. A few moments from the conversation:

On growth and housing:

“I think development and progress is inevitable, but we have to invest in all neighborhoods, in all communities, starting with those that don’t have even those basic levels of infrastructure.”

On what city government needs to do better:

“Where I think we need to do better is to take the time to get it right, to take the time to really delve in, to bring in communities that are most impacted by it, and to do it in a way where everybody feels a sense of buy-in, a sense of ownership.”

On police, sheriff deputies and first responders:

“They’re from here and they live with us and they’re putting their life on the line for us. So we need to take care of them, but we also need to make sure that the system as a whole is transparent and held accountable.”

Read the full interview on Denverite, then make your plan to vote. Your ballot is on its way, and I’m the first name you’ll see for City Council At-Large.

Juntos. Together.
