Why I’m running
The deal Denver hasn’t kept.
I’m the son of Mexican immigrants, raised in Baker. The deal was simple: work hard, be a good neighbor, and you’ll make it here. Denver hasn’t kept that deal. I’m running to change that. I’m an independent, like more Denver voters than any party, and I answer to all of them.
What I’ll do
Four things I’ll fight for.

A Denver built for all. Every age, every stage.
Homes with room for kids, first homes for young couples, a way for elders to age in place, childcare, amenities across the lifespan, and small business nearby. That’s where my zoning and budget votes go.
Receipt Denver Public Schools has nearly 1,800 fewer students this fall. One reason the district gives: housing prices pushing families out.

Cooler blocks. Trees we keep.
Shade on the walk to school, cooler homes, lower utility bills, cleaner air. I’ll vote to fund a Shade Standard that plants the least-shaded neighborhoods first, and to treat ash trees on city land before they’re cut. No new tax.

Cops on crime. Treatment on crisis.
A cop for a crime, a trained responder for a crisis, treatment instead of a cell. And when STAR, Denver’s crisis team, answers the call: somewhere to go the next morning, written into the budget.

The homes our neighborhood plans already call for, near transit, parks and schools, with protections for renters and longtime owners written in first.

On Denver’s Citizen Oversight Board, I helped pass the ordinance that opens police misconduct settlements to public scrutiny.

A framework adopted for the river
I co-authored the River Sisters framework, adopted into Denver’s West Area Plan in 2023.

A cultural home, funded and built
I led the seven-year coalition behind the Latino Cultural Arts Center: $8 million raised to build it, $3 million more for programs.
